Epoxy Based Micaceous Iron Oxide Intermediate Coating

Arcomediate MIO is a two component polyamide cured high soil epoxy coating especially formulated to improve the anticorrosive properties of coating and to extend the of protective coating. It can be used as intermediate as well as top coat to suit tropical environments.

Arcomediate MIO - having a lamellar micaceous iron oxide as the main corrosion inhibitive pigment. These lamellar flakes of micaceous iron oxide align parallel to the substrate surface, producing a shield or barrier of overlapping plates. This alignment enhances protection by providing -

  • Barrier protection
  • Ultraviolet ( UV ) light absorption
  • Film strength
  • Increased Intercoat adhesion
  • Reduced erosion rates
  • Extended life of protective coating
  • Increased mechanical & chemical properties.

Base High soil epoxy resin with lamellar micaceous iron oxide as the main corrosive inhibitive pigment and various additives to suit the atmosphere.
Hardener Polyamine / Polyamide based
Volume Solids 65 - 70 %
Dry Film Thickness (DFT) 60 - 75 microns / Coat
Coverage 6 - 7 m2 / Litre / Coat ( Depends upon the atmospheric conditions, application skills )
Mixing Ratio 1 : 4 ( Hardener to Base ) By volume
Pot Life 30 - 40 minutes at 25°C
Tack Free 6 - 8 hrs at 25°C
Full Cure 7 days
Further Workability After tack free
Shelf life 1 year ( storage below 25°C )

Product Application - Apply one two coats of Arcomediate MIO after tackfree of coating with proper mixing ratio to give a thickness about 100 microns.

Scope : Especially formulated the life of protective coating in aggressive environment, to increase the coating thickness with improved adhesion mechanical and chemical properties.
